Roan Equity The Holler

The Holler

Roan CGC Invitational

An annual golf gathering for technology founders, operators, and growth equity investors.

The Holler brings this community together through team competition, shared experiences, and friendships that carry beyond the course.

The name

Why The Holler?

A holler is an Appalachian term for a small, sheltered valley tucked between the mountains. The communities that call those valleys home are known for their sense of belonging: neighbors know one another, rely on one another, and look out for one another.

The name is also close to home. Roan takes its name from Roan Mountain, Tennessee, in the heart of Appalachia.

For us, the name reflects the kind of community we want to build within software growth equity: people who know one another, share what they’ve learned, and show up for each other.

Why it matters

Building and growing software companies takes a community.

Founders, operators, and investors bring different perspectives to many of the same challenges: building teams, serving customers, scaling a business, and navigating consequential decisions.

Beyond transactions, board meetings, and the usual business agenda, The Holler creates time to get to know the people facing those challenges alongside you—and build relationships you can turn to for advice, perspective, and support.

The Spirit of The Holler

The Holler is built on a belief that the people you build alongside matter as much as what you build. Each year, we bring together founders, operators, and investors we respect, introduce them to one another, and make room for friendly competition, shared meals, and candid conversation.

The competition is real, but what lasts is what happens around it: a call for advice, an introduction, a second opinion before a hard decision. Each year adds new people to that community and deepens the relationships already in it.
